In fact, there is no short battery life problem at all !!! Most of the issue is attributed to the wrong usage of the phone. Just follow my two recommendation and your battery will last and last for days.
1. Disconnect the data connection manually. I have no idea why but in Windows mobile after you're done surfing the web or using the web connection for any other reason like weather update or Google maps, it won't close the data link and keep it open forever draining your battery.
What you need to do is, after finished using data connection: tap on the upper top small icons and they will get enlarged. Choose "3G" and manually disconnect Data Connection.
Yes, this is stupid - but this is what you need to do to save your battery. I have no idea what's driving them to keep it open but maybe they want it to be available next time you want to surf the web. Anotehr benifit you'll get is avoiding harmful prolong Radio Frequency transmission from your phone into your body.
2. Use proper colors on your user interface. What? Yes. This is not a mistake.
This phone has beautiful AMOLED display. The technology behind it is completely different from other LCD (TFT) based phones. On LCD phones there is a backlight that constanty illuminates thought the LCD. So it doesn't matter what is projected on the LCD, the power consumption is the same.
AMOLED is an array of tiny LEDs that turn on and off individually (no backlight). So the more LEDs turned on - the more power it consumes. The good newes that generally it consumes less then regular LCD displays BUT it really consumes very low power on Back and white user interface. The reason is become only the white LEDs are on (Blacks don't consume any power at all. they are just off.). Actually it can be Black and any other color as long and the background it black. So don't choose a colorfull theme, choose Black theme and you will save a lot of power. (Notice that iPhone theme is Back too). So be like iPhone (on this topic) - and save power.
